The Turkish-Bulgarian border is the new route used by refugees on their way to Europe. The Shipka Bulgarian National Movement (BNO), a volunteer unit supervised by army veterans, was formed in Bulgary to halt the influx of migrants. The paramilitary training of this militia, overseen by a controversial former Bulgarian officer, Vladimir Russev, was documented by Jerome Sessini.
