Under the eye of Abbas, the youngest section of the very high and respected Académie des beaux-arts welcomes a new artist to the chair of photography created in 2005. Elected in 2016 to the rank of academician, Magnum photographer Bruno Barbey officially sits in his chair on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He joins the photographers Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Sebastiao Salgado and Jean Gaumy. Renowned for his harmonious use of color and for his coverage of May 68 events in France, he received numerous distinctions and his work has been exhibited all around the world.
