Violent clashes have broken out in Ramallah after President Donald Trump’s December 6 announcement that he plans to build an American embassy in Jerusalem, calling the city Israel’s true capital and turning away from decades of US policy. The decision has enraged Palestinians, who say this has eliminated any chance for a peaceful two state solution with Israel. As of December 19, at least nine Palestinians have died and more than 1,900 have been injured in violent protests against the American President’s decision.
