POLAND. Warsaw. 27 January 2021. On October 22nd, 2020, politicized and controlled by the right-wing populists, the Constitutional Tribunal announced the introduction of the nearly total abortion ban. The pro-choice protests that followed the declaration have been the largest public demonstrations in Poland since the collapse of communism in 1989. The culmination of the protests coincided with the COVID-19 epidemic. Many people watched the protests from windows and balconies.
