PALESTINE. Jenin Refugee Camp. The Central Mosque. 20 Septemebr 2023. This is Mahmoud al-Ararawi, killed on September 19, 2023, by an Israeli suicide drone in the central square of the Jenin refugee camp. The drone, packed with explosives, detonated just in front of him, sending shards through his neck and upper body, severing vital arteries and killing him instantly. Moments before the attack, he and his friend Chiwawa had uncovered an Israeli undercover unit and exchanged fire. Both were killed not long after. Here, Mahmoud lies in the mosque, surrounded by friends who have come to bid their final farewells.
