USA. Macon. Georgia. October. 2024. Temple Mound. The Ocmulgee site preserves the 17,000-year record of human habitation in the American southwest. The site was last inhabited by the Muscogee Creek who refused to give up their land, which had become known as the Ocmulgee Oil Fields, and were sent to ‘Indian Territory” (present day Oklahoma) on The Trail Of Tears.
