MEXICO. September 4, 2020. The drug war in Mexico is characterized by intense cartel conflicts, and significantly impacts the nation’s economy and society. But despite rising crime rates and escalating violence, the tourism industry in Mexico is flourishing, having increased by 11% in the past year. The two industries, tourism and organized crime, have a comparable business size, each generating an estimated $30 billion annually. The picture features a dog wearing machete-point cowboy boots created by the artist Bárbara Sánchez-Kane.
