MEXICO. Sonora. May 9, 2021. The Sonoran Desert, spanning both sides of the border, serves as a hunting ground for mountain lions, mule deer, and big horn sheep. Hunting ranches, often isolated and intermittently used, provide convenient resting spots for migrants during their journey. In May 2021, I stayed at one of these farms, awaiting trucks carrying migrants to the border under the cover of night. The picture captures a stuffed mountain lion, one of several hunting trophies displayed in the house.
