Poppy cultivation associated with the production of opium and heroin has been a significant issue in Guerrero, Mexico, particularly in the mountainous and remote regions of the state. Gaining permission and access to photograph a poppy field in this area was a challenging process, taking more than three years due to the growing wave of violence in the region, which led to several trip cancellations.
