IRAQ. Sinjar Mountains. August 12, 2014. A boy whose mother was onboard the helicopter cries as he does not know the fate of his mother, she survived. An Iraqi Air Force helicopter on a rescue mission in the Sinjar Mountains crashed shortly after takeoff. Onboard the helicopter were dozens of Yazidi refugees stranded in the mountain for days unable to reach the safety of Kurdish-controlled areas of northern Iraq.
