GREENLAND. An iceberg stranded in shallow water. Melt water filtering through the receding Jakobshavn Glacier speeds it up over the slippery rocks. From 20 metres (66 feet) a day to nearly 30 metres (98 feet). Melting ice may cause the ocean currents which warm North West Europe and the Eastern US Seaboard to slow down, or even stop - with potentially devastating impacts. 2004.
