I had access to the rooms in the early evening, while the occupants were downstairs having dinner, and did a variety of still-lifes of people's bedsides. While the Virgin Mary is a common image in a still life, the bottle of Evian and Palmolive soap seem to be small luxuries that are out of context in this hostel. Upon reflexion, however, it is obvious that they are not luxuries but necessities'. 1999.
