The lack of Black British Officers is frequently remarked on by the US Army, which thanks to positive discrimination has scores of black generals, and where 10% of the officers are black. Drill practice at Sandhurst, of the 5,000 black men and women in the British army, few achieve Non commissioned Officer status and only a handful have become officers. 1987
