China. Gu Yuan County. An area with many Muslims. Pupil, Ma Rong, is looked after by her grandfather and grandmother as her parents are away working in a noodle shop. They have not been home for 7 years. There is a big problem of parents leaving their children for long periods in rural areas. Marong has an epiletic brother and she wants to be a doctor whens she is older to help people like her brother. She is a pupil at the National Grid Elementary School, the only one in the whole county, with 1000 students in total in 20 classes. School is in Ning Xia province. There are 64 teachers in total.
