IRAN. Zardkuh, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. 2018. Bakhtiaris mourning during a funeral in Chelgerd town, Kouhrang County. Bakhtiari women should wear black at least for a year as someone dies in the family, even if the person was not a close family member. Most of them keep wearing black when they lose a family member such as husband, children or siblings. When a person passes away there will be no weddings until the next year. In Bakhtiari tradition, when someone dies, people who attend the funeral should pay money to his or her family as compensation for damage, which they call Sarbareh. Now a day they hire a cameraman to portrait everyone who attended the funeral so that they know whom they owe to and pay back at their morons. They also hire a singer who sings about their sorrows and the subjects are mostly about the dead person’s life, as if he was a shepherd the lyrics will be only about flocks.
