BANGLADESH. Cox's Bazar. October 30, 2017. 29-year-old Mohammad Sultan told me, through my translator, that soon after his younger brother was shot dead, he was shot at point blank at their rice field near Maungdaw in the Rahkine State of Myanmar in early October, 2016. The bullet entered his left temple and the bullet exited his right temple. Miraculously, he has survived but gone blind completely. He with his wife, their four children and relatives managed to escape to Bangladesh in late October, 2016. There is no hope or guarantee of safe return in sight. Life has been all only reserved to waiting in the makeshift refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar.
