In the evenings, James, Anton, and Myles go up to a spot they call “The View,” where they take in the lights of Oakland and San Francisco. “In America, we’re taught that we got to be tough,” James says. “With my brothers, I make sure that I’m checking in on them. I want to know where your mind’s at. If you feel like your depression is coming back, you can talk to me so you don’t do nothing drastic and make decisions out of anger.”
