IRAN. 2018. Moeen, 28, engineer.
During the 2009 protests, we were following the news and read about the elections from 2 months before, the reasons were obvious and the people’s demands were clear. These new protests were a real shock! I just read about it the moment it was happening on the streets in Iran.
We, the middle class, don’t care deeply about the lower classes because we really don’t see them that much. They are invisible to us.
These protests scared me for the unpredictable future we are going to face, it is a fire under the ashes. It can flare up, and might explode.”
Some say “the only thing that can help Iran is the reformists.” To me that is nonsense. The reformist party in Iran is not really different from the other parties like the conservatives. Deep inside my heart I feel it might be good to have these protests, as those in power understand that people in hardship will not be silent all the time under the pressure.
I didn’t join the protests because I was not sure about the atmosphere and the people who were on the streets, as it was not clear for me.
I don’t have a plan to migrate. I only would leave my country.
