However, outside the Kathmandu Valley, there is precious little to show for it. With hardly any roads, infrastructure or investment, rural Nepal has suffered at the behalf of Kathmandu, where all wealth and pwoer is concentrated. The maoist insurgency is fighting for the end of the Monarchy, and for a redistribution of land, resources, and political power.
