GEORGIA. Abkhazia. 2005. I took this in on a pier outside Sukhumi, the main city of the breakaway republic of Abkhazia on the Black Sea coast. There was a bunch of boys, playing and diving into the warm waters below, and I hung out with them and took pictures. I was drawn to this scene where everyone, despite their apparent uniformity, appeared as a solitary figure, each in their own world for a fleeting moment.
