USA. Redlands, California. January 14, 2015. Nina McAdoo, 17, is a senior in Orangewood High School, in Redlands. She lives with her mom, step dad, and her brother that suffers autism. Her family is under Section 8 for 6yrs now (since 2008), which helps to pay the rent. Recently they had to go under inspection to make sure the house was habitable and they passed. Both parents are disable. Nina wants to go to college and be a speech therapist to help people with speech impairments. Her brother wasn’t able to speak until he was 3yrs old and she was the one to help.
Her ex-boyfriend, Marcus Green, was shot and killed Sept. 17, 2014. They were together for 2 years and broke up two weeks before he died. He was trying to steal marijuana plants from a residence and got shot by the owner. She blames herself because she could have helped him get off drugs, but she didn’t want to help.
