LEBANON. Khafad Kila. November 2006. South Lebanon. During Israel's 20-year occupation of southern Lebanon, its military compound (known locally as "the Lebanese Auschwitz") was used as a prison and torture center by the IDF (Israeli Defence Force) and its South Lebanon Army (SLA). After the Israeli withdrawal in 2002, it was converted into a museum which was destroyed during the 2006 campaign. The vinyl banner draped over a captured tank depicts one of Lebanon's political prisoners still held inside Israel, and who would be included in the proposed prisoner exchange.
