LEBANON. Khafad Kila. November 2006. South Lebanon. Inside a prison cell. During Israel's 20-year occupation of southern Lebanon (1982 - 2002) its military compound (known locally as "the Lebanese Auschwitz") was used as a prison and torture center by the IDF (Israeli Defence Force) and its South Lebanon Army (SLA). After the Israeli withdrawal, it was converted into a museum which was destroyed during the 2006 invasion.
