USA. Chimayo, New Mexico. 2005. Chimayo has become known as the "Lourdes of America," and attracts close to 300,000 visitors a year. During the holy week of Easter almost 30,000 pilgrims leave their homes, or their cars, parked on the roadside, to walk 10, 20, 30, or sometimes even 100 miles to reach the Santuario de Nuestro Se–or de Esqu’pulas in Chimayo.
