PAPUA NEW GUINEA. The people who inhabited the highlands of New Guinea live for months on a diet of the starchy cau-cau root. Then, one morning, just as dawn is breaking, they massacre thousands of pigs and whole community takes part in a three-day orgy of eating. After this - until the next protein fix (perhaps a year away) - they return to their cau-cau roots. 1973
