In March, the officers were each indicted on two counts of second-degree murder as a result of the February shooting. The case was acquitted and all four officers were not charged. On Sunday February 27th, 25,000 men and women all marched towards the U.N plaza protesting against the verdict. The marchers gathered on he Mall-many hoisting signs with pictures of relatives killed by police-responded with cries of "Amadou!Amadou!". Dressed as mourners the women formed circles and held pictures of Amadou Diallo.
