CHINA. Shanxi Province. 1995. Qiang Yongshon, 53 years old, is an Abbot of the Shaanxi Province's 'Francisco Monastery'. There are 12 fathers in this monastery, all of whom are "underground Catholics" and do not belong to the official registered church authorised by the Government. Father Qiang Yongshon looks after nearly 600 Catholic believers in a dozen villages in the mountains.
