SENEGAL. Touba. A pilgrim prays on the shrine of Sheikh Mouhamadou Mbacke, second Caliph of the Mourids, and son of the founder, Sheikh Amadou Bamba. The city of Touba is considered sacred, and the present Caliph has decreed a ban on liquors, cigaretttes and prostitution, in total contradiction with the laws of the Republic. 1988.
