Geers the most articulate of the crowd of artists at the Speedy Bag Factory in Johannesburg, is the bad boy of South African art; he deconstructs his society, sometimes very cleverly, sometimes apparently unaware that intellectual constructs already exhausted abroad cannot serve in South Africa as the basis for internationalism.
