Larry Towell
CANADA. Lambton County, Ontario. 1995. Isaac TOWELL drinks from a bottle and standing on the picnic table under which sits a pet raccoon of approximately 3 moths of age. The coon, Copernicus, and his brother, Einstein, were taken from a nest in one of the hollow locust trees that line our road. According to local folklore, the double row of hollow trees were planted by the families of runaway slaves who escaped through the underground railroad and ended up here in Ontario. Raccoons are very intelligent and make good pets. ©Larry Towell/Magnum Photos
