ISRAEL. Jerusalem. 14th May 1948. General Sir Alan CUNNINGHAM, the British High Commissioner for Palestine, left the country. On the same day, the Jewish National Council and the General Zionist Council proclaimed the establishment of the State of ISRAEL.
