ISRAEL. 1954. Yemenite welder inside a large concrete pipe, part of the new Israeli water supply system.
A Pipe Factory near Migdal, Ashkalon. Main product is pre-stressed steel and concrete pipes for Israeli irrigation scheme. At present the factory is completing the last sections of the Yarkon Negev pipeline which is 90 kilometers long with 66 ft pipes.The output is 200 meters per day.Many of the Yemenites working here are welders, a good example of industrial training of the newly arrived immigrants.
