Biloxi. Mississippi. 2005. Hurricane Katrina flooded up to 80% of New Orleans the 29th August 2005. After initial delays a relief operation evacuated the thousands of people who were unable to leave the city, whilst the loss of human life was less than originally feared, financially damage has been estimated at $125bn, the most expensive US disaster ever.
