SOUTH AFRICA. Mpumalanga province, near Balfour. Farmer Abrie Strydom oversees the reinforcing of his barbed wire fencing. Farmers in South Africa are not subsidised nor do they receive medical aid. Strydom has been badly hit by a serious operation to his son and also to his cancer ridden father. Which has seriously affected his farm's financial viability. He has been helped through a difficult period by his fellow farmers but is still struggling. 2004
