GEORGIA. Tbilisi. November 22, 2003. Opposition storming the Parliament. After a vote riged by President E.Shevardnazes ruling party opposition demonstrations under the leadership of Mikhael Saakashvili, Zurab Shvania and Nino Burshadnaze take place for about 2 weeks. Pro Shevardnaze AKHORDZINEBA (Revival ) Movement supporters are brought in from the autonomous republic Adjara and a standoff takes place at the Parliament square. The Opposition manages to mobilize thousands of people from the Provinces who come to the capital the day the disputed Parliament is to convene. Protesters overrun riot police barricades and take the Presidency buliding. M.Saakashvili storms the Parliament, forcing Shevradnaze to leave. After a tense day of negotiation with the intervenence of Russian Foreign Minister I.Ivanov. Shevardnaze resigns and cedes power to acting President N.Busharadze. Celebrations breake out all over the city.
