GEORGIA. Tbilisi. November 18, 2003. Pro Shevardnaze AKHORZINEBA rally. Opposition hate figure no1, pro Shevardnaze former Gouvernor of Kvemo-Kartli Levan Mamaladze. Several thousand pro-Shevardnaze demonstartors take over Tbilisis main Rustavelli Avenue, in front of the Parliament. Its mostly supporters of the autonomous Republic of Adjaria's ( capital Batumi on the Black Sea Coast) autocratic leader Aslan Abajidze and his "Akhorzineba" = Revival Movement. They camp out overnite and take the place formerly used by abti-governement demonstsrators. A big part of the conflict happens in hourlong TV shows suporting the Opposition (Rustavi 2 Channel.) After the sofar biggest opposition demonstration assembling 20-30 000 people behind Mikhail Saaklashvili,Zurab Shvania and Nino Burshanadze on 11/14 opposition rallies are called off for regrouping.
Opposition Demonstrations and Vigil on Tbilisi's main Avenue Rustavelli, in front of the Georgian Parliament. After eclatant fraud in favour of President E. Shevardnaze's ruling party in the November 2nd parliamentarian elections protest started. Protesters are united in an opposition block "National Movement" behind the main leaders Zurab Shvania, Nino Burshanadze, Mikhail Zaakashvili. They protest daily and keep a vigil during the night.
