August 5th, 2022 marks the 60th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's death. The American actress and singer, born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, was a media sensation during her life and has achieved iconic status since her passing. Her work and likeness have inspired artists for decades and Magnum Photographers are no exception. Their work has resulted in a few books dedicated to the Hollywood star; Eve Arnold's Marilyn Monroe (1987) or the collectives Marilyn by Magnum (2012) and The Misfits (1999).
