Years after the end of the civil war in Lebanon, Hezbollah has partly shed its image of extremism and fanaticism in Lebanese society. Together with its armed militia, Hezbollah is a political party, respected for its integrity, with deputies in the parliament and acting as a member of the governing coalition of Lebanon. It is very active among the Shia community in providing social services. It no longer advocates for a fully Islamic society.
