With the resurgence of Scottish and Welsh nationalism in recent years, the English have also begun to have a revival of national identity separate from a traditional 'British' one, evidenced by the growth of the use of the English flag, the flag of St.George in sporting events such as the World Cup. Though still a comparatively low key affair, there has been a growing interest in St. George's day in recent years as the national day of England.
