Ian Berry

In 1963, Ian Berry travelled to Baghdad to photograph the city after the revolutionary coup which first brought the Ba'ath Party to power. With the assassination of Abd-al -Karim Kassem, General Ahmad Hasan-al-Bakr took over as prime minister and Colonel Abdul Salam Arif became the president. Only nine months later, Arif lead a second coup this time against the Ba'ath government itself.
