Women’s sports aren’t something you typically associate with the Islamic Republic of Iran, but one 27-year old Iranian-American woman wants to change that.
Having captained the Iranian women’s national soccer team, Katayoun “Katiana” Khosrowyar who moved to Iran at 17, now coaches the national under-14 team as well as holding a seat on the sport’s national oversight board.

In 2005 the number of girls taking part in women’s and girl’s leagues in Iran was zero, since then the sport's popularity has grown, with four thousand Iranian girls now involved in the sport.
