Easily identifiable by their thick trunks, baobab trees are ancient features of Africa’s arid bushland. They can grow as tall as 40 meters, as broad as 16 meters in circumference, and store up 120,000 liters of water in their trunks. Despite having survived in hot and dry environments for thousands of years, human encroachment and climate change are causing baobabs in southern Africa to die off.
