Peter Van Agtmael was born in Washington DC and graduated with honors from Yale in history. Since 2006, he dedicated himself to documentary photography and covered the local and international consequences of the events following 9/11.

Peter is also a portraitist. He seeks to tell stories through collections of images that create an emotional and personal account of a particular experience, while retaining a measure of ambiguity that forces the viewer to pause and think.
