Archive - Gamal Abdel Nasser: 1918 – 1970

Magnum Photographers

When Nasser was born, Egypt was still a British protectorate. As president, he inflicted a humiliating blow on the former colonial power, France and Israel during the Suez Canal crisis in 1956. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures of the anti-imperialist movement and in modern Middle Eastern history.
