Since the early 1980s, nearly 30 million people have died from AIDS, which remains a worldwide epidemic. Until recently, the cost of antiretroviral (ARV) treatment kept 95 percent of those living with HIV from managing their condition and staving off certain death from the disease. On this World AIDS Day, Magnum presents documentation of the fight against AIDS as well as work from the U.N. Global Fund-commissioned Access to Life book and traveling exhibition—which advocates for making ARV treatments available to everyone.
