Forest fires that have been burning for several days in northern Ukraine and are approaching the abandoned Chernobyl nuclear plant. As of April 14th, the firefighters are succeeding in controlling the spread but, there is fear that these fires could stir up radiation in the contaminated areas.
Having witnessed some smaller fires there in 2009, Magnum photographer Jean Gaumy has been back to Ukraine in 2019 to meet with the guards which permanently control the Exclusion Zone.
