November 2nd 2017, 70 years since Spruce Goose flies
Magnum Photographers
The Hughes H-4 Hercules (A.K.A Spruce Goose) was intended as a transatlantic flight transport for WWII and was designed and crafted by Hughes Aircraft Company. It failed to be completed before the end of the war, but to this day the aircraft has the largest wingspan in history. The Hughes H-4 Hercules was nicknamed the "Spruce Goose" because it was built almost entirely of birch.
