Magnum Photographers 

The focus of the upcoming COP22 conference in Marrakesh will be to reduce the reliance on energy from coal to more sustainable and less polluting solutions. Coal is cheap, was the driver of the Industrial Revolution and still provides over 40% of the world’s electricity, but compared to other energy sources, produces the highest amount of harmful CO2 gases. At COP22 leaders will discuss the goal of eliminating coal and other carbon energy sources by 2050. Magnum photographers have documented mining communities and explored the often turbulent story of coal from the 1950s to the present day. This...
