A finger of sand in a corner of the Gobi desert in China's Inner Mongolia near Baotou seems an unlikely place for a theme park, but it is home to the strange, but highly successful Xiangshawan "Desert Tourist Resort". Here the theme is not Disney, but Mongolia, sort of. Sand, lots of it, quad bikes, slides, sand sculptures, and camels, Mongolian feasting, photo-opportunities for Mongolian dancing, ceremonies, costumes, kite flying and more camels racing, more photo-opportunities.
