Consignment - Ahmed Masood assassinated. 

The leader of the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan died after receiving wounds from suicide bombers posing as Belgian journalists. Masood was a major force in combating the militant Islamic government and has been credited with helping contain the spread of authoritarian-style governments to surrounding areas of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
